Community Cats Program

Trap, Neuter/Spay, Release (TNR) for Community Cats and Ferals

SUPPORT THE COMMUNITY CATS PROGRAM

This program works! Our community has noticed a remarkable decrease in the number of feral cats! The process of TNR involves humanely trapping a community cat or feral and taking it to a veterinarian to be spayed or neutered and vaccinated. After recovery, the cat is returned to its home outdoors. Thank you for your interest in supporting the Community Cats Program's Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) efforts in Northumberland Borough.

The Benefits of TNR

  • Colonies that are involved in TNR diminish in size over time

  • Mating behaviors cease, such as roaming, yowling, spraying and fighting

  • The Pennsylvania SPCA, Danville's TNR service includes surgery, rabies and FVRCP vaccines and an ear tip
