Code Department

As of June 7th, 2022 all Borough Code department inquiries and complaints are being addressed by NorthEast Inspection Consultants (NEIC). If you have questions about specific Code requirements or needs, please contact the Borough Office. If we are unable to assist, your message will be passed on to NEIC.

Permits

Links for Permit Applications are below.

  • All electrical work performed requires an electrical permit from NEIC. 
  • If the deck is attached to house a building permit from NEIC is required
  • If the deck is a stand alone deck, a zoning permit is required
  • For demolition of a building, a permit is required from NEIC
  • If the building is connected to the sewer, a permit from the Sewer Department is required.  The line must be capped and also inspected by the Sewer Department.
  • If replacing an existing fence (all or partial) in the same location and at the same height - NO PERMIT REQUIRED
  • If installing a new fence, or changing location and/or height of the fence, a zoning permit is required

All pools require a barrier to unauthorized entry.

  • In-Ground pools require a fence. A building permit and electrical permit from NEIC are required
  • Above-ground pools require a fence and/or a removable ladder. 
    • Above-ground pool with a filter and/or any electrical components require a building permit and electrical permit from NEIC. 
    • Above-ground pool ONLY (no filter and/or electrical components) require a zoning permit.
  • Replacing or covering current shingles - NO PERMIT REQUIRED
  • Changing pitch or structure, replacing sheathing and/or rafters - a building permit from NEIC is required.
  • No permits required
  • If attached to the house, a building permit from NEIC is required.
  • Stand alone
    • Up to 999 square feet - a zoning permit is required
    • 1,000 square feet and over - a building permit from NEIC is required
  • Attached to house - Building permit from NEIC is required
  • Stand alone - with electricity
    • Building permit and electrical permit from NEIC are required
  • Stand alone - without electricity
    • Same requirements as for a shed
Signage
  • State Road - permits from both PennDOT and the Borough are required. Contact PennDOT for approval prior to the Borough.
  • Borough Road 
    • With electricity - Building permit and electrical permit from NEIC are required
    • Without electricity - Zoning permit required

Residential Rental License

As per ordinance #2023-A, the Residential Rental Registration Ordinance, property owners are responsible for completing a Rental License Application and submitting it to the Borough Office.
